A bit about me...
As humans, we all experience our own "journeys" through life both literally and figuratively. One of my most life-changing decisions was the transition from a career in public relations into psychotherapy. More than 12 years later, it’s also the most rewarding path I’ve chosen yet.

Below is a snapshot of information about me, Catherine Egenes, LMFT, and my private psychotherapy practice. I hope you find pieces of what you need to know as you embark upon a new chapter of your own personal journey.

THERAPEUTIC VALUES & APPROACH
My therapeutic approach combines elements from the following theories and modalities: collaborative, attachment, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, experiential, general systems, transpersonal and alternative/holistic care. By adhering to an integrative style, I am able to utilize evidence-based techniques while also considering the unique qualities and needs of my clients. I value autonomy and honesty with the belief that such principles are fundamental for a strong therapeutic alliance. I practice with the intention of sharing my perspective and expertise as a tool to help clients realize their own goals and path towards growth— however those are defined.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
I graduated from the Mercer School of Medicine with a Masters of Family Therapy and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Rhodes College. I completed a practicum internship with the Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders (ACE) in 2011 and continued working as a staff clinician for 4 years to receive specialized training in the treatment of eating and related disorders. During my time as a contract therapist at Emory University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Center, I gained experience in working with students and their struggles of navigating daily college life and the transition into young adulthood.

As part of my ethical duty and love for the field, I work to expand my knowledge and expertise through professional training and workshops. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Discernment Counseling, both of which enhance my work with people exploring issues within their romantic relationships.
In 2021 I commenced intensive studies into holistic modalities that involve non-ordinary states of consciousness, with the goal to expand options for clients seeking deeper levels of therapeutic healing and change. These trainings include: 250+ hours of learning psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI); 100+ hours of learning MDMA-assisted psychotherapy through the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS); 6 months of on-site experience with ketamine-assisted psychotherapy at Field Trip Health Atlanta; and 100+ hours of learning circular, conscious-connected breathwork.

In addition to my knowledge areas noted above, I specialize in helping individuals with all matters related to one's spiritual journey including trauma processing, exploration and understanding experiences related to spiritual emergence.

I have been a member of the American (AAMFT) and Georgia (GAMFT) Associations for Marriage and Family Therapy since 2010 and served in a 2-year role as PR Chair of the GAMFT Board from 2014-2016.
Most Importantly...
At the end of the day, I feel honored each and every time I sit with my clients in their pursuit towards a fulfilling life. For me, therapy is so much about a human to human experience. I welcome the chance to know you and hope to provide a warm, comfortable and non-judgmental environment for you to explore blocks and, ultimately, return home to yourself.
